Several riders in one car? Everyone hurt in the crash shares the per-crash limit. If an uninsured driver hits a Lyft carrying four people home from a game, the minimum uninsured motorist coverage is $300,000 for all of them together. That’s why we look at each passenger’s own auto policy too.
That uninsured motorist number used to be $1 million. Georgia lowered it in July 2023. If the person who caused your crash had no insurance or just a minimum policy, your own uninsured motorist coverage may be what makes the difference, even if you weren’t in your own car.
